Tactical Gloves Review by Nutnfancy, Part 2

PART 2 of 3: Your hands are delicate. Seriously, it takes little to cut, knick, scrape, slice, gash, or abrade that pink fleshy thing you call a hand. Therefore in tactical operations gloves make a lot of sense. Whether you are a cop, pilot, soldier, or civilian sheepdog, you can benefit from glove wearing. They protect your hands, keep them warmer for better dexterity, often give you a better grip, and provide better grasping stamina. This three part series covers several Damascus Gear and Hatch brand tactical glove models. As I cover their features, I also weave in my own glove experiences, preferences, and Philosophy of Use ie the features and considerations that might make your glove purchase useful in your operations. There are MANY good tactical gloves out there and this series in no way attempts to cover even a fraction of them. Instead I cover some relatively HIGH VALUE tactical glove models sold by Skaggs Public Safety Uniforms and Equipment store (who hosted the review). Be careful not to overpay for your tactical gloves. Several high end models exceed $60 in price and offer no more capabilities, better fit, or durability than the models shown. Key features of a successful a general purpose tactical glove design include: trim and tight FIT (that provides reloading and writing-level dexterity), smooth palm, synthetic leather or suede construction (dries faster), reinforced and well-stitched finger tips, easy on/off, quick attachable and stable cuff, good

You should try using a pair of golf gloves when shoot. They feel great. They don’t sag or slouch because they conform to you hand and too the grip of you firearm. They have great grip, too.

@Southern661 I didn’t make myself clear, I wasn’t talking about it being lopped off, I was referring to the fact if you got a cut and it got infected such as gangrene or something (yes an extreme and rare case but why risk it?), kevlar or leather may have prevented that. Additionally, to each their own.

  5. Southern661 Says:

@0RMCommandos Something that would take off an entire finger, it wouldn’t matter much if you had material around it. If its going thru bone, leather, kevlar or nomex will not stop it.

@nutnfancy There are several routines you can do weekly/monthy to keep your hands tough. Start with a bucket of fine gravel, and push your hands in repetitively, and twist. Keep doing this untill your skin thickens, and work your way to to gravel with decent sized rocks in it. I personally spend alot of time on a gripper to keep my hands strong and healthy. You can also throw a decent sized rock in the air and repetitively ceatch it, not as effective, so i prefer the first.

I bought a pair of batting gloves at the sports store. Nice leather construction, color isn’t really tactical (black and white) but for like 20 bucks, they lasted me all summer working on an archeology site. Digging, troweling, etc… they worked great. even reduced a cut i got on a piece of glass from 1910, could’ve been alot worse. I still use them, and I use them for shooting all the time. Keeps your hands from getting cut/burned on sharp edges and hot parts. especially when it’s cold.

    cool watch!

  13. 0RMCommandos Says:

@uberti77 Then don’t wear gloves ALL the time, why risk cutting yourself and losing dexterity or an entire digit? Just be smart about wearing them, just ask yourself how dangerous what you’re doing could be. (Murphy’s law; what can go wrong WILL go wrong. So why risk it?)

  20. TheTwiztedJuggalo420 Says:

yeah you wouldnt have to worry about cutting them as much either i can run pretty sharp blades over my fingers and what not without them getting cut do a few years of roofing and masonry without gloves they wont be soft anymore

  21. ACScibetta Says:

They are sooooo ridiculously expensive ($150+) but I love outdoors research’s tactical gloves. The protection rivals my blackhawk nomex solag gloves but feel paper thine. But there’s no way I could justify 150+ on a pair of gloves.

  22. AirsoftingSuccess Says:

I remember backpacking, and it was -24degrees, my gloves ripped and I was fricken cold. I wish I brought a second pair b/c I couldnt do much

If you decide to do another glove review then send your size and I can give you a pair of my Oakley pilot gloves, they retail around $70 and are extremely durable. I have one too many unused pairs and and would be happy to send them to you. Thanks :)
